Limone sul garda

It's a little pearl of the West Gardesana.

Although in the town emblem appears a lemon, it seems that its name derives from the ancient "lime" or "lemos", that is, "Elm", or from the Latin "limes" meaning "border".

Perhaps the term "limes" is the correct one, since centuries Limone is on the edge between the lands of Brescia and those of Trento.

Anyway, the term Limone fits like a glove to the cultivation of lemons in the beautiful and characteristic "limonere" built to rock shelter that protects them from the northern wind.

The mild climate allows the growth of Mediterranean vegetation with agaves, oleander, palm and cypress trees alongside the terraced fields of ancient olive trees and gardens in the greenhouse of lemons, oranges and tangerines.

Among the narrow streets of the old town you can feel something ancient , capturing the tourists enchanted by the magic of these angles so picturesque, so colorful and always different.

Shaded staircases lead to small squares from which branch off alleys inviting to continue between the houses and shops.

In limited spaces, where even the sun struggles to illuminate windows, balconies and mysterious times, the color of geraniums and wisteria ago Limone into a wonderland.
